Talking about animation. We have stage and layer. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for stage.

As far as it looks in the code, stage is essentially a clip index. If you set two animation resources on the same stage, then one deletes and overwrites the other. So the layer is the thing that truly denotes the animation playing (plus blends with lower layers based on weights).

Whats the point of having a stage value at all?

I'm probably missing something obvious.

The stage is really just a slot and has no further effect. In a previous version it was implicitly defining the layer and blending priorities but this got refactored. We will rename the parameter later.
