There is still ATI RenderMonkey which is also quite nice for prototyping shaders. I had a quick look at the latest version. It fully supports GLSL now and is very flexible concerning shader uniform names and attributes. Actually I liked it pretty much and it should work much better with Horde than FX Composer at its current state. I will look a bit deeper into it when I have more time.
