This project is part of a cooperation between Örebro University (providing the Cave Environment) and Augsburg University (providing the GameEngine). The Cave was originally used for a serious game (Training for firefighters, see here ) based on the Source Engine, so for now we're reusing the hardware. This means we have 5 machines, a server and four clients, each client providing the input for one of the projectors (and monitors). Graphic errors are the result of really old video cards. Proper alignment at the corners still needs to be done by adjusting the projectors. Looks pretty holodeck. ![]() Are all those monitors and projectors streaming encoded video from a central server, or are they streaming the models and rendering it themselves? |

This last image would work nice with "Anaglyph Stereographic" system, and when using these red-cyan (or green) glasses, guite cool 3D when can watch every direction. Btw, nice project you have ![]() |

I guess they're using only one graphics card with several display connected to it, but that's only speculation. Haven't seen something from my old lab for a while. |

I updated the original post a little, but here's more detail: For now, each of the projectors has their own machine, and each renders for itself (hopefully this will change soon and we will switch to the one graphics card solution). Following how this was done in the original Source Engine application running on this Cave, we use a multipayer mode with one real player and four spectators (each looking in a different direction) watching that player. This is based on a multiplayer component that one of our students is currently developing. Volker wrote: Haven't seen something from my old lab for a while. I know, and I feel kind of bad about this. This thread is a first step to fix this ![]() |
